A few years ago, one of the closest people to me in my life was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a mastectomy and chemotherapy, she began 28 days of radiation treatment. During that time, we lived together and I drove her to every appointment. I had a camera and decided to take a photograph of on her each of the 28 days. I am not sure what I was trying to do – to keep a record, to try to document and understand what was happening to her and to us all. After all these photos, I still don’t understand this disease and the havoc it reeks on the body, but I do understand the depths of strength, love, and triumph.
